Golf is a sport with a vast history and tradition in Argentina. The fact that the Maestro Roberto De Vicenzo is part of the selected group of the Top 5 all-time Greatest Argentine Sportsmen alongside Fangio, Maradona, Vilas and Monzon is a clear indication of its importance and relevance.

Golf tradition in Argentina rests above all on The Argentine Open, the 7th oldest championship in the world, which completed 100 years in 2005. Argentina currently hosts the following tournaments, which are part of the European Challenge Tour calendar: The Argentine Open (played in Buenos Aires), The Central Open (played in Cordoba) and the Litoral Open (often played in Rosario).

In recent years, players like Angel Cabrera (2007 US Open Champion and 2009 Masters Champion), Eduardo and Andres Romero, with their successful careers in Majors and the most important tours of the world, have successfully placed Argentina in the map of international golf. As a result, the number of golf players in Argentina is continuously growing.

In 2000, Argentina hosted the EMC World Cup at the Buenos Aires Golf Club, with illustrious guests Tiger Woods and David Duval topping the list. The US pair won the tournament followed close behind by Angel Cabrera and Eduardo Romero.

In 2012, the PGA Tour is launching the developmental "PGA Tour Latinoamerica", as golf prepares to become an Olympic sport again in 2016 in Brazil. The tour will comprise 11 tournaments that will be played in seven countries, especially in Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
